When the Bridge Feels Too Long to Cross

Waiting is not wasted time. When the bridge between you and answered prayer feels impossibly long, look down — God has been building beneath your feet the whole way. The pause is part of the path.

There is a strange kind of loneliness that comes with waiting on God. It is the loneliness of holding a promise in your hands that has not yet become visible. You read it again. You underline it. You pray it back to Him in the small hours of the morning — and nothing changes.

But I have learned, slowly, that the bridge is being built even when you cannot see it. Concrete poured in the dark. Planks laid by hands you will never know. The Father is not absent in the waiting — He is engineering the very thing you are standing on.

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.” — Isaiah 43:19

If you are waiting today, take heart. The same God who led the Israelites through the sea is building your bridge right now. The pause is not punishment. The pause is preparation. And the destination is every bit as real as the promise you are holding.

So rest tonight on this: He who began the work will complete it. The bridge is not too long. It is exactly as long as it needs to be.
